Lorena H. Tan, M.D.

Dr. Lorena Tan is board certified in Family Medicine and is a Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Urgent Care Medicine.  She has an advanced Bachelor of Arts degree in both Biology and Psychology from Occidental College in Los Angeles, and she received her Medical Degree from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1995.  Dr. Tan completed her internship and residency training in Family Community Medicine from the University of California, San Francisco in 1998. 

Before founding Tri-Valley Family Medicine, Dr. Tan worked with Tri-Valley Physicians, Inc. in Livermore for five years and with John Muir Family and Immediate Care in Walnut Creek for six years where she also served as the co-medical director.

In November of 2015, Dr. Tan was elected as the Chief of the Department of Family Medicine of Stanford Healthcare, Valley Care. Before becoming Chief of the Department, she had served as Vice Chief of the Department of Family Medicine within the Valley Care Health System from 2008 to 2009 and again from 2012 to 2015.

Dr. Tan enjoys all aspects of family medicine and urgent care, especially the areas of women's health, adolescent medicine, travel medicine, hypertension and diabetes. Besides English, Dr. Tan speaks Burmese and medical Spanish. Her hobbies include reading, running, skiing and playing tennis.
